Włodzimierz Karol Pessel holds a PhD in cultural studies, specialising in Scandinavian cultures. Assistant Professor at the Institute of Polish Culture, University of Warsaw. Co-founder of the Urban Studies Research Team. He is the author of the monograph Anthropology of Waste. A Study of Warsaw's Sanitary Culture (2010). He has contributed articles to "Acta Sueco-Polonica”, "Teksty Drugie”, "Kwartalnik Historyczny”, "Przegląd Kulturoznawczy”, "Kultura Współczesna”.
