Klaus Theweleit

Klaus Theweleit taught at the Institute of Sociology at the University of Freiburg; Professor of Art and Theory at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe (until 2008). Since 1966, lives and works in Freiburg. His dissertation, defended in 1977, “Freikorpsliteratur; Vom deutschen Nachkrieg 1918−1923,” was the basis for his two-volume, extensively illustrated book, Male Fantasies, a study of the fascist consciousness and the imprint the military ethos leaves on the self.
